HSC is working to elevate awareness about the importance of vaccinating workers in the human services sector. Many of these workers are coming into direct and sustained contact with members of the public in order to deliver essential services, and yet they are not specified in Ohio’s prioritization guidelines. We are hopeful that our local health agencies will follow Columbus and Franklin County’s lead and use their discretion to vaccinate some of these overlooked yet essential workers.
HSC has joined with its sister organization in Columbus to request prioritization of workers that provide charitable and social services, with specific priority being given to those who have direct exposure, such as those who work in homeless, shelters, addiction centers, and child care facilities.
Columbus and Franklin County have recognized the importance of these workers and have already begun vaccinating them. HSC has asked Hamilton County and Cincinnati to follow similar guidelines so that our sector can continue serving the public safely.
