The house was packed for HSC’s Lunch n’ Learn on Eviction Prevention Strategies this past Wednesday at Interact for Health! Over 50 social workers and others who work with vulnerable populations gathered to learn about the problem of eviction in Hamilton County and solutions for reducing its prevalence. HSC board member Stacey Burge of Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Cincinnati, Mary Reid of St. Vincent de Paul and Marsha White of Easterseals of Greater Cincinnati presented practical information on existing resources in the community to help clients facing eviction. Katherine Weber of Women Helping Women provided a wealth of information on the connection between eviction and domestic violence. And Stephanie Moes of the Legal Aid Society reviewed a variety of policy solutions that could help reduce the number of evictions and their burden on tenants. HSC board member Georgine Getty of Our Daily Bread wrapped up the event by leading a rich discussion among participants of the challenges clients face and potential solutions. Thank you to all of our presenters and participants for an informative and engaging event!
