City Council has approved $350K in additional human services funding for 2018 and has committed by ordinance to incrementally increase human services to 1.5% of the General Fund over the next 5 years. HSC worked with Vice Mayor Mann to create the 1.5% ordinance, which provides a reasonable schedule for restoring and maintaining human services funding to pre-2004 levels. This is a monumental achievement for the human services community. Though our work is far from over, today’s Council votes will allow several of our member agencies to serve many more residents this year and provides a basis for increased investment by the City in the years to come.
